New E27 website design

November 30th, 2005 No comments

Welcome to the new Entrepreneur27.org website design. Please refresh your browsers and take a look around. -I’ll be posting some brief notes soon- and will then hand you over to “Noah (OKDork.com)”:http://okdork.com/. I’m happy to be working with E27 and hope you enjoy the ride!

h2. Design notes

The E27 website was crafted using XHTML for structure and CSS for presentation. It should be viewable in any browser or mobile device–“web standards (WASP website.)”:http://webstandards.org baby. These words and everything else here is published with “Textpattern (Free, flexible, elegant, easy-to-use content management system.)”:http://textpattern.com. Plugins by “Rob Sable”:http://wilshireone.com/textpattern-plugins and by “Threshold State (Simple web software.)”:http://thresholdstate.com/software/plugins/ are in use for archive, search and contact fuctionality.

Typefaces displayed depend on what you have installed in your system and the preference is defined as follows: Trebuchet MS, Helvetica, Verdana, Arial, any available sans-serif font. The typeface used in the logotype is Futura, a “favourite of Stanley Kubrik (Kubrik used Futura in most of his films.)”:http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,4120,1177734,00.html.

Cheers,
“Simon (HyperTextHero – Better websites, engaging print designs.)”:http://hypertexthero.com

This non-profit, student-run organization was founded in 1996 by a group of five Stanford University engineering students. h3. Shaherose Charania

Shaherose is a cluetrain manifesto junkie and has been involved with consulting at e-Business Connection, the US Department of Commerce for SME’s, CGI and now TiE Global in Chapter development. h3. Angie Chang

Angie is a graphic and web designer-turned-entrepreneur who co-founded themintpages.com for the female market, recognizing the dearth of such websites riding the web 2.0 wave. Angie enjoys meeting like-minded women with an entrepreneurial spirit, and is always looking for help with her current venture! If interested, please email angie@themintpages.com.

h2. History

!(floatleft)/images/9.jpg (Crowds of eager entrepreneurs heading to an Entrepreneur 27 conference.)! We started out with a simple idea. Because it is always exciting to see what young entrepreneurs create, we wanted to initiate a conference especially geared toward these college students and young professionals. We didn’t want attendants to pay a lot of money to meet old people in a stuffy setting. Rather, together with BASES, we wanted to host a free event that provides a chance for young adults to gain some exposure, knowledge, and inspiration not only to the tech industry, but to what it’s like being your own boss.

h2. Mission Statement

At Entrepreneur 27, we aim to:

* Create an open forum for the stimulation and exchange of ideas
* Generate opportunities to learn and inspire each other
* Promote entrepreneurship in the technology area

h2. Why 27?

After extensive research and studying trends, we found that most successful entrepreneurs have been under 27

Here’s what you should get out of this conference:

* Learn how our speakers did what they did, the challenges they overcame, what motivated them, and what they are doing now.
* What it is like to run your own company
* Meet other people with similar ideas and passions
