The Wine List Recap

Last Thursday, July 20th 2006, E27’s first ever, “The Wine List,” took place with great success. Held at “Spalti Ristorante”:http://www.spalti.com, the patio became filled with new introductions, mingling, and of course, the ever so popular, “Hi, I’m (insert name here), you are?” The evening’s host, Johnny Lam and Entreprenuer27’s founder, Noah Kagan, officially kicked off the evening.

Bill Cooper of Cooper-Garrod Winery opened with some simple facts and myths about wine. He provided information on all facets of wine, ranging from each individual wine and the meaning of its label, to why each bottle was shaped a certain way; to the best pairing of food and wine.

Its as Bill stated, “Wine making is an art that is very interpretive. The terroir, or all the factors that make up a wine’s uniqueness, from the flavors, aging process, and certain savoir-faire all fall on the shoulders of the wine-maker. It is what he/she likes, wants to create and wants the taster to enjoy.”

All registrants were allowed to taste 7 different types of wine, starting with the 1) Chardonnay; then the 2) Cabernet Frac; then the 3) Cabernet Sauvignon, Lone Oak Vineyard; then the 4) R.V. Fine Claret; then the 5) Cabernet Sauvignon, George’s Vineyard; then the unique and very tasty 6) Viognier; and finally topping off the tasting with the ever so popular, 7) Syrah; all from Cooper-Garrod Winery.

All 55 participants were able to take home a coupon for 10% off purchases for “Bottlenotes”:http://www.bottlenotes.com and a uniquely etched E27 10 oz. wine glass. As well, ten free wine tastings were given to winners of wine trivia quesions. This was E27’s first but definitely not last wine tasting experience. We hope it was fun for everyone who attended and sign up on our mailing list to hear about our future events.
